From 250+ Applications to One Golden Opportunity: The Power of Networking 🌎

This LinkedIn post reflects on my journey to landing a role at The Kive Company after sending out 250+ applications and facing numerous rejections. I realized that networking was the missing key in my job search.

As I sit down at my desk atΒ The Kive Company , I can’t help but reflect on the journey that brought me here. It’s one punctuated by persistence, resilience, and a newfound appreciation for the power of networking.
Before landing this opportunity, I had sent out 250+ applications, meticulously tailoring each cover letter, fine-tuning every detail of my resume, and navigating countless interviews. Despite my diligent efforts, I faced rejection after rejection, each one a blow to my confidence but not my determination.

After much introspection, I realized that a crucial component was missing from my job-seeking strategy – networking. I would thankΒ Maruf Bin Faruque , my senior in college, for his eye-opening suggestions on networking when I was frustrated by all the rejections. Often overlooked and undervalued, networking is a powerful tool that can open up a myriad of opportunities. So, I decided to shift gears, stepping out of my comfort zone to build meaningful professional relationships.

I attended industry events, reached out to professionals on LinkedIn, and joined discussions relevant to my field of interest. The conversations I had and the connections I made were richly rewarding. Not only did I gain industry insights, but I also had the opportunity to understand different perspectives, broaden my horizons, and, most importantly, establish relationships built on mutual respect and shared interests.

And then, through a connection I had cultivated, I was introduced to my current role at The Kive Company. It was the perfect fit – aligning with my skills, interests, and career aspirations. This golden opportunity came not from an impersonal online application but through the power of networking.
My experience taught me a valuable lesson: while traditional job applications have their place, networking is equally, if not more, important. It humanizes the job search process, fosters mutually beneficial relationships, and often leads to opportunities that might not be available otherwise.
